NEXT STEPS

Hi Matt, Abby, and Ryan,

Thank you for meeting with me last Wednesday. Now that Matt has up and running with our blog, I’d like to get ongoing communication. As we discussed, our next face-to-face meeting is October 24th. Until then, I’d like to keep regular communication on the blog. From time-to-time I will ask for your feedback. Immediate response is appreciated.

First, Stan suggested that we have MarComm (Marketing and Communications) demo their Liquid Matrix capabilities. This is not something we can view online. Can you let me know your availability in the next two weeks to review this demo, from Oct 1-12? Thank you.

Second, Stan provided me with AIB’s competitive sites. Can you review these and give me a critique of areas of strength and weakness. You don’t need to do lots of detail for all, but review and give me a general impression. I’d like your feedback by this Friday, October 5th.

Mass College of Art

School of the Museum of Fine Arts
Pratt
Parsons/The New School
Boston University
School of Visual Arts
Savannah College of Art and Design
Montserrat College of Art

I will keep a running list of your thoughts, below. Matt—is there a specific place we can keep these?

In addition to your lists, I am going to invite feedback from the following constituencies as we discussed on Wednesday. Please let me know if I’ve missed anyone.

1. Bob Gielow, Admissions
2. A few art teachers—Abby: can you provide me with a few names of people you think are willing to contribute?
3. Andrew Mroczek, Head of Exhibitions
4. Pre-college students—I will get this from Diana
5. Current AIB students from majors outside Design—Ryan—do you recommend anyone?
6. Department Chairs
7. Alumni—I will get a few names from the Chairs

To keep this process organized, please do not invite feedback from the outside or allow people in the blog.
Run thoughts by our group first. I want the larger community to feel a part of this process, but I fear too
many cooks, you know what I mean.

Thanks everyone!
Kristina

ONGOING LIST
Ryan’s list
1) remove changing background picture every time the mouse goes over a menu choice. moving the mouse slightly produces an almost vertigo-like effect when scrolling over menu choices.

2) clearer menu structure. Sort by who the visitor is and then show them the information they will want to see. Sorting by pre-college/applicant/student/faculty/alumni could make the choices
clearer.

3) consolidate navigation with a drop-down menu and a dynamic menu and a smaller menu in the lower right hand beneath the graphic, there are too many places to go in order to navigate. The KISS method applies here. One stop shopping navigation.

Abby’s list
My general goal is to have a website that provides accurate, up-to-date and
engaging information for prospective and current students.
My top three practical recommendations for improving the website would be:
1. Updated information
2. Easier, logical navigation
3. Adding faculty and alumni profiles and galleries.

Hi all
Regarding the ongoing list, I would make a separate post for that content and update it as it evolves.

As for competing sites, I'll look them over this week and post my notes.

I'm free Monday all day and Friday in the afternoon for that week, as of now. I will let you know if something changes. I'll also have my review remarks to you by Friday.

I'm free tomorrow (Friday) if that is best. BTW, Matt, I am having trouble with the RSS feed. Could you check to make sure the feed is available in the options?
